Transactional SMS

Non-promotional text messages triggered by user actions or system events.

Definition

Transactional SMS are non-promotional text messages triggered by user actions — order confirmations, OTPs, delivery updates, payment receipts, appointment reminders. In India, they can be sent 24/7 without time restrictions.

In Depth

Transactional SMS in India use alphabetic sender IDs (e.g., IN-BRAND) and have higher delivery priority than promotional messages. They require DLT registration but are exempt from DNC filtering since recipients have an existing relationship with the sender.
